It's contagious!

Nancy showed me this wonderful short film this morning. I don't want to say too much about it other than it really is amazing what a little generosity can do. I hope you're smiling by the end...

As if by magic...

Yesterday morning I looked outside and saw a yellow leaf spinning like a top in the air. And it kept spinning in the same place, not falling, not tipping, but making small circles with its small bit of stem. It didn't matter that there was some "reason" for this magic. This early delight led to a day full of wonder and connectedness.

Here? Now? Yes. And no.

Ah, the sands of time...

Kelly sent this video to me last night, and I was moved by its beauty and the power of its imagination. Such simple lines and motions transforming one image into the next, creating a story and reminding me that, elementally, we're all formed of the same stuff. Maybe a bit of a leap, but that's where this took me.  Thank you, Kelly!

Show up and let go....ole!

Kathy in her quest for self-realization and creative expression came across this short lecture by Elizabeth Gilbert, best known for her "freakish" success with Eat, Pray, Love. I was intrigued by the notion of "having a genius" and so I watched this lecture today. It is funny and insightful and reminded me of the times in my life that I felt most connected to everything -- a part of everything. One time stands out in particular. I was rehearsing for a flute recital and when I hit the high C in the middle of the piece, it sang through me in a way that I had never experienced. I felt bright and clear and full of love. My teacher felt it too. "Yes!" she smiled. The way that I think about this process is as being in the state of "allowing." It's amazing what can happen when we give up trying to control everything! Thank you, Kathy.

Nancy's father, currently  in his 91st year and still swimming in Master's swim meets, sent this video to Nancy. It is wonderfully inspiring to see that people can continue to do the things they love, as long as they continue to do the things they love. In other words, use it or lose it! I guess I'd better go for a walk and do some yoga right now....
